AA Ireland Bean an Tí (Hostess) of the Year Award 2012/13

Reviews about Clareville House B&B, with its own In-House Taxi Service, are awash with anecdotes of how Teresa and Derek look after their guests like long lost family members thinking nothing of picking them up from the local pub, helping to repair punctured bikes, inviting them to local hurling matches and generally showing a passion for true hospitality.

In addition to Teresa’s clear enthusiasm for making people feel welcome, among the other factors which distinguished Clareville House B&B from the many other excellent practitioners in the category was the excellent standard of both their bedrooms and made to order breakfasts.

AA Hotel Inspectors and guests alike describe Teresa’s breakfasts as a real treat. Guests can choose from fresh fruit and porridge to hot breakfasts to order and pride goes into everything put on the table.

The very freshest eggs are sourced from Derek’s own coop and all bacon, sausages and puddings are sourced from Rudd's Fine Foods, whose breakfast products are hand-crafted to unique traditional Irish farmhouse recipes and are free from colourings and artificial flavourings. Adding to this delicious melody are Teresa’s Homemade Baked Breads, Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice and Tomatoes & Parsley from their own kitchen garden when in season.

This sound level of quality also carries through the bedrooms and this is reflected in the AA Hotel Inspector’s assessment. All bedrooms at Clareville House are spotlessly clean, comfortable, spacious and have been recently refurbished, each one with its own colour scheme. Teresa’s passion for hospitality and dedication to going that little bit further are also evident in the extra touches throughout the bedrooms such as free Wi-Fi, crisp linens, individual tea and coffee making facilities and hand & body lotions.

Derek’s enterprising Walking, Golf, Fishing and general day tours/taxi business also distinguish Clareville House B&B as a superb place to stay and highlight the Browne’s clever and creative ability to market their business and tap into outdoor tourism needs all year round. Derek does pickups from Shannon airport and surrounding train stations and has negotiated reduced rates with several local golf courses, therefore guests can enjoy a different course every day well fuelled by one of Teresa’s famous early morning feasts. Their location on the famous East Clare Way also makes them a very popular base for hikers and more casual strollers.
Teresa and Derek are also happy to help arrange Sailing & Boat Tours on Lough Derg, Horseriding and visits to some of the historical sites in the area such as St. Cronin’s Church (the oldest church in constant use in Ireland), Old Oak Tree, Brian Boru’s Fort, Lough Graney, nesting White Tailed Sea Eagles on Bushy Island and the famous monastic site on Holy Island/Inis Cealtra.
